Sphere Pod

Winning MSG Student Associate Shark Tank proposal

Tools: Figma

Problem Statement

As a Game Design/Interactive Art Student Associate at Sphere, I was challenged to develop a product pitch with a team of other interns that utilized AI to benefit the Sphere.

We were struggling to come up with an original problem to fix as AI is a relatively new tool and there wasn’t much information regarding its use in live entertainment.

Research

I conducted extensive research on the use of AI [more specifically ML] within the automobile industry and how it can be used to mechanically repair objects. I also looked into the use of visual inspection AI to detect defective pixels on phones.

The exosphere team expressed this would be particularly helpful during the summer as Las Vegas gets extremely hot and the surface of the Sphere becomes dangerous to touch.

After conducting thorough AI/ML research, I proposed that our app that uses visual inspection AI and treats the rows and columns of pixels on the sphere like a grid and can identify defective pixels and their locations.

Objective

After consulting with our mentor, we decided to address the issue of defective pixels on the surface of the Sphere.

This was a technically complex problem that we needed to thoroughly understand to convince the panel of its potential business benefits.

Solution

Sphere Pod, an AI system that automates and optimizes the detection and repair of dead, stuck, and hot pixels to

1) deliver a better customer experience

2) streamline content creation

3) strengthen brand and artist activations

Design System

Final Prototype

I designed an operable prototype of Sphere Pod using Figma and included all relevant user flows and animations, referring to Sphere’s marketing handbook to see what colors and fonts to use and made it homogeneous with the company’s branding.
